Brody Dalle's back in town
The first track of the former Distillers singer's new band Spinnerette is out there - finallyfinallyfinally!
Fans of Dalle's uniqueroughsuperalcoholic, 24hourssmoker voice have been waiting for more than a year - this moment is assuredly historic.
Other Spinnerette members include Tony Bevilacqua (the former Distillers guitarrist) and Jack Irons (ex RHCP drummer), if you aren't convinced by Dalle's own musical qualities.
I'm passionately looking forward to their first studio album.

Apparel wanted to bring something innovative and stunningly new to Vienna, they thought the cooperation with some pseudo-cool magazine would bring them enough credibility, so the styler community of Vienna would build an organized union in order to join them at their opening party not only for one single night, but for a whole life, joining the Mekka of fashionista heaven, touching eternal fades and trying to enwrap God's heart with pink-dim lighted scarves.
Sorry, I forgot what I actually wanted to say.
The party was lovely, lotta lotta great people, free beer, brilliant location, superb atmosphere. Musically I wouldn't use the same words, Paul Raal was doin a great job, though Italodisco sound isn't that really popular in Vienna currently. Just look at marfloW, who's a big deal from Berlin to New York - when he's putting on his great Disco vinyls like in locations like Planetarium, Volksgarten or Badeschiff, people abruptly stop dancing. Why? Because Italo is one style of music, which needs more attention and concentration than some commercial Techhouse or Minimal embracement.
Afterhours @ Sass and Fluc were a wonderful ending for the 2nd best party night of this year's summer in Vienna.

One of the best artists on hip Frenchy label Kitsuné has always been autoKratz. They've been in Vienna some weeks ago during the EURO 2008, regrettably I missed them - fuck.
Two weeks ago the London based duo released an album called "Down & Out", now the online version of electronic music magazine Resident Adviser gives us the chance to get their record for free by making two tracks (of the all together nine) downloadble every week.

Sadly enough, American Apparel will open it's first store in Vienna soon.
On Saturday the Opening Party, organized together with VICE mag, will be staged at the Blue Lagoon (I know it sounds like a really bad action movie starring Tom Cruise), which is located in Schadekgasse 2 near the Haus des Meeres.
Lineup includes V-Team, SM84 and Paul Raal. Only 150 people will be allowed to party - be fast.
Is there gonna be free beer every day at the AA store in the Mariahilfer Straße too?
Fingers Of Steel
Eine in der Tat unerträglich grausam lange Zeit war es, während der ich Sébastien Tellier nur von Erzählungen, Reportagen, Kolumnen, Online-Videos und Fotoshootings kannte.
Nun endlich darf ich sein aktuellstes Album, Sexuality, mein Eigen nennen. Ein schönes Gefühl, dieses Stück Musikgeschichte in Händen zu halten, es öffnen zu können, das Booklet betrachtend einen Künstler zu würdigen, der es wahrlich verdient hat, ob seines Style-Bewusstseins, seines musikalischen Stils und seiner einzigartigen Stimmqualität, zur Hochkunst-Intelligentzija im Rahmen der elektronischen Pop-Musikszene gezählt zu werden.
Das Album wurde produziert von Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, wohl besser bekannt als ein Teil und Mitbegründer von Daft Punk - die Zusammenarbeit mit Tellier ist ein wahrer Segen für unser aller Ohren, perfekt arrangierte Klangteppiche mischen sich mit wohlsituierten Lyrics über Liebe in allen physisch akzentuierten Formen, ohne jedoch in vulgär-kommerzielle Sphären zu verfallen.
Wenn man Erotik als etwas Nicht-Sichtbares, Geheimnisvolles, zu Ergründendes, Verborgenes im Gegensatz zum für jedermann klar Sichtbaren, Offenbarten, sexuell Expliziten versteht, kann man "Sexuality" als Inbegriff der Erotik verstehen, als Meisterwerk der versteckten Botschaft, als Aufforderung zum Innehalten, Zuhören und Begreifen.

Interestingly, crazily and stunningly enough I just found out by accident, that Tellier was the French participator at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 in Belgrad. At the end he was ranked 18th of 25 participators. Here's the original video of his majesty, performing "Divine":
By the way I guess the following comment made American Apparel think about a coop between him and them: Sébastien Tellier to popjustice.com: "In my own sexual fantasies I always think about women in sportswear. [...] Usually guys are more into going under skirts but personally I prefer to pull off the sexual sportswear. " :D
BAB - Buenos Aires Bash
This Friday it's finally again worth aboarding the Badeschiff.
Argentinian DJ Federico Molinari is gonna headline the Kompressor Club on August 15th, opening our minds and ears for his wonderful Techhouse compositions. Since he's living in Frankfurt, the promoter, artist and label owner has worked together with scenies like Luciano or Villalobos, so I definitely expect a nice set by Mr. Molinari.
He's getting supported by the likes of Patrick Kong, Smacs, Philipp Blecha and Thomas Grün - Viennese pride worldwide!
